RECOMMENDED WHEN IT HELPS

A small, practical list of routine-care and simple owner-replaceable items. No purchase is required to use WasherPilot, and a product is never a diagnosis or permission to open a washer.

ROUTINE CARE

Manufacturer-approved washer cleaner

For an approved tub-clean cycle when your manual calls for cleaner. Do not mix products or run repeated cleaning cycles to solve a drain, leak, or electrical symptom.

VISIBLE WATER CHECK

Leak alarm for the floor

A simple battery leak sensor can alert you to water under or beside the washer. It does not make it safe to keep running a leaking machine.

LAUNDRY HABIT

Mesh laundry bags

Useful for small items that can escape a load and contribute to a blockage. They are prevention, not a fix for water already left in the drum.

FLOOR PROTECTION

Washer drip tray

Helpful where a shallow, visible leak needs early notice. Check dimensions and installation limits before placing anything beneath a washer.

OWNER-REPLACEABLE

Washer inlet hoses and hose washers

Whirlpool says to replace a fill hose that restricts flow, to replace fill hoses every five years, and that hose washers belong at both ends of each hose. GE and LG both say a damaged hose should be replaced. Match the thread and length to your washer, and turn off the water before you remove a hose.

INSTALLATION

Anti-vibration pads

Whirlpool’s vibration page says an unstable floor can be reinforced or a washer vibration pad can absorb some of the movement. A pad does not replace leveling and does not fix shipping bolts that were left in.

ROUTINE CARE

affresh washer cleaner

Whirlpool and Maytag name affresh in their Clean Washer help pages, and Whirlpool recommends a Clean Washer cycle about once a month on top-loaders. Use it only as the label and your manual say.

Why there are no pumps, valves, locks or boards here.

Codes and symptoms vary by model, and one washer can use several part numbers for the same job. A wrong pump, valve, door lock or control board costs money and can create a safety problem. We link only ordinary items that a manufacturer’s own help page tells owners to replace or use: hoses, hose washers, anti-vibration pads and cleaner. For anything electrical or internal, use the exact-model manual and qualified service.
