THE SHORT ANSWER
On Samsung washers, LC and LC1 (also LE and 1C) mean the washer detects moisture where it should not be, or the sensor itself has a problem. Look for a leak, check that the supply and drain hoses are not kinked, then run empty cycles with no additives until the suds stop. If there are no suds and the code persists, request service.

What LC / LC1 means
Samsung’s code list groups 1E, LE, 1C, LC, LC1, 1 1C and 1 LC as a water level or leakage code: moisture is detected where it should not be, or the sensor is faulty. Samsung’s steps cover leaks, hoses and suds, and end with service if the code persists without suds.
How it appears: LC or LC1 on the display; some models show LE, 1C or 1 LC. Codes vary by model.
Check in this order
- Look for leaks and fix them. Small leaks can go unnoticed, so check around the hoses, the connections and under the washer.
- Check the hoses. Make sure the supply and drain hoses are not kinked. Do not remove the screw that holds the drain hose holder on the back; if it is missing, refit it with any screw that fits. A missing holder needs service.
- Run empty cycles to check for suds. Run the washer empty with no additives until the suds stop. Samsung says suds mean too much detergent or non-HE detergent. Then see whether the code returns.
If LC / LC1 comes back
Samsung says to request service through its Support Center if the code persists and there are no suds. Tell them:
- The model number (where to find it).
- That the code is LC or LC1, and where (if anywhere) you found water.
- That the hoses are not kinked and that an empty cycle showed no suds.
