Samsung washer error codes: what each one means and what to check first.

The door is not detected as closed and locked. On some models dC means an unbalanced load instead.
First check: Make sure the latch is secure and no laundry is caught in the door; if no cycle is running, check Child Lock.
Open the dC / dE guide →DRAIN5C / 5EWater is not draining at the correct speed, or at all (also nd, SC, SE and 1 5C).
First check: Level the washer, check the drain hose (6 to 8 in into the pipe, no kinks), and clean the pump filter on a front-load washer.
Open the 5C / 5E guide →FILL4C / 4EThe washer is not filling (also nF and 1 4C).
First check: Hot hose to hot, cold to cold, no kinks; both valves fully open; drain hose 6 to 8 in deep; unplug for 1 minute.
Open the 4C / 4E guide →UNBALANCED LOADUE / UbThe load is unbalanced in the tub and the cycle will not finish (Ur is only a retry).
First check: Untangle and spread out the laundry, close the door and press Start.
Open the UE / Ub guide →LEAKLC / LC1Moisture is detected where it should not be, or the sensor has a problem (also LE, 1C).
First check: Look for leaks, check the hoses for kinks, then run an empty cycle with no additives to check for suds.
Open the LC / LC1 guide →No match in this list. Re-read the exact characters on the display, or search all brands. If nothing shows on the display, start from the symptom.
Reading the display
Samsung groups several display variants under one family. For example 5C, 5E, nd, SC and SE all mean a drain problem, and 4C, 4E and nF mean the washer is not filling. Each guide lists the variants it covers.
Samsung’s own list says codes vary by model, so check your manual if your display shows something that is not listed here.
