CYCLE WON'T FINISH
Washer stuck on spin? Find out whether it is balancing, draining, or actually stuck.
A washer can spend several minutes redistributing a load before spin. That is normal. Repeating the same slow turn, drain attempt, or pause for a long time is different — and the clues tell you where to start.
Give it a few minutes; bulky loads can take time to balance.
It normally will not reach full spin until the drum drains.
Note any code, sound, or exact point where the cycle stops.
First, pause and look at the load
Pause the cycle only through the controls. When the machine unlocks, spread towels or other heavy items around the drum and remove one item if the load is packed tight. A single bath mat, comforter, or pair of heavy shoes can leave one side too heavy for a safe spin.
Run one drain-and-spin attempt after redistributing. If it reaches spin normally, the load was the useful clue — not a reason to buy a part.
If it keeps trying, check whether it has drained
Look through the door or open lid: is there standing water, or can you hear the pump running without water leaving? A partially blocked drain hose, a kink behind the machine, or an accessible filter that needs cleaning can stop the cycle before spin. Do not pull a built-in washer forward alone or open a filter until the manual explains the procedure and you have towels ready.

Notice the sound before you reset it
A steady low hum while water drains is not the same as a metallic scrape, rhythmic banging, or a hot electrical smell. Write down the sound and take a short video from a safe distance. That detail is often more useful to a technician than the phrase “it was stuck.”
When the next step is service
Stop trying cycles if the drum does not turn freely by hand when empty and powered off, the machine repeatedly shows a code, or the problem returns with a modest, balanced load. Those signs can involve the drive system, suspension, latch, or control — and they need model-specific diagnosis.
CHECK THE CODE TOO
Did a message appear during spin?
Keep the exact letters and numbers. An unbalanced-load message and a drive-protection message lead to very different next steps.
