Washing machine vibrating or shaking too much?

Heavy spin vibration is usually caused by an uneven load, poor leveling, or an unstable floor. It should not make the washer walk across the room.

1. Redistribute the load

Separate tightly bundled items and spread the laundry around the drum. Wash bulky items with a few similar pieces when the care label and washer manual allow it.

2. Check the floor and feet

The washer needs a firm, level surface. Press on opposite cabinet corners after installation: it should not rock. Follow the installation manual to adjust the feet and lock them in place.

3. Do not overload it

Overstuffing traps laundry in one heavy mass. A drum that is too empty can also struggle with a single large absorbent item.

When to call for service

Get help if shaking continues with ordinary balanced loads, if the washer moves across the floor, or if you hear severe banging or metal noise.
