dE is commonly a door or lid message on many LG machines. The machine may be preventing movement because it cannot confirm a safe closure.

Remove obvious interference

Use the controls to pause, then check for a garment caught at the seal or an overfilled drum pressing against the door. Close it gently and make one normal retry.

Check the context

If dE appeared after a drain failure, water may be part of the lock decision. If it appears with an empty drum and a clean door opening, the latch or its sensing circuit may need service.

Do not make a recurring code worse

Stop use for a damaged hinge, loose latch, burning smell, or repeated dE. Record the code and model number before service.
