THE SHORT ANSWER

LG says an LE code appears when the tub fails to spin, meaning the motor can’t operate properly. LG names two causes: the washer is overloaded, or a foreign object such as a coin is stuck in the tub. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes and run the cycle again, reduce the load if it was heavy, and check the tub for a coin or other object. If LE comes back, unplug the washer and contact LG service.

What LE means

LG’s article says an LE error code appears when the tub fails to spin: the motor can’t operate properly, either because the washer is overloaded or because a foreign object is stuck in the tub. LG says the article was written for all models, so the details may differ on yours. It does not explain how to tell a motor fault from a belt or other part, so a repeat LE after these checks is a service call.

How it appears: LE on the display. LG’s top-load washers can also show LE1, which has its own LG article.

Fix it in three steps

Reset the washer. Unplug the power cord, wait 5 minutes and run the cycle again. LG says this is for temporary errors.
Reduce the load. If the washer was overloaded, take some laundry out. For heavy loads or large blankets, LG says to use the bedding cycle if your washer has one.
Check the tub for a coin or foreign object. Turn off the power and unload the washer. Look in the tub for a coin or other object, and remove it with a tool such as pliers or tweezers.

If LE comes back

LG says to unplug the power cord and contact the LG service center. LG does not give a repair route for a stuck object you cannot remove, so stop there rather than forcing anything. Tell them:

The model number (where to find it).
That the code is LE, whether the tub turns by hand, and what the load was.
That you did the 5-minute reset, reduced the load and checked the tub for objects.
