Maytag F8E2 washer code: a problem with the dispenser system.
IMMEDIATE ACTION
Check the drawer or cartridge for a clog
Next stepTop load: check the bulk dispenser
Code stays: contact service
THE SHORT ANSWER
F8E2 on a Maytag washer points to the dispenser system. On a front-load washer, Maytag’s one check is whether the detergent drawer or detergent cartridge is clogged with detergent. On a top-load washer with a bulk dispenser, check that it holds detergent, is installed correctly and is not clogged, then unplug the washer for 5 minutes. If F8E2 returns, contact Maytag service.

What F8E2 means
Maytag’s front-load help page says F8E2 indicates a problem with the dispenser system and gives one check: make sure the detergent drawer or cartridge is not clogged with detergent. Maytag’s top-load page labels F8E2 as a bulk dispenser code and gives three checks. Which page applies depends on whether your washer is a front-load or a top-load model.
How it appears: F8 E2 on the display, also written F8E2 or F8-E2.
Front-load washer
- Look for a detergent clog. Check whether the detergent drawer or the detergent cartridge is clogged with detergent. If it is, clear it.
- Start a cycle again. If F8E2 is gone, you are done.
Top-load washer with a bulk dispenser
- Check that there is detergent. Make sure the bulk dispenser contains detergent.
- Check the installation. Make sure the bulk dispenser is installed correctly.
- Clean it if it is clogged. Maytag says the dispenser may be clogged: remove it and clean it. The page links a video for this step.
- Reset the control. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.
If F8E2 comes back
Maytag says to contact Maytag or schedule service if the problem continues. The front-load page gives no reset and no further checks. Have these ready:
- The model number (where to find it).
- Whether it is a front-load or a top-load washer, and whether it has a bulk dispenser.
- That you checked and cleared the dispenser, and did the reset if it is a top-load model.
