THE SHORT ANSWER
F0E7 on a Maytag washer means it detected clothing while trying to run the Clean Washer cycle. Take everything out of the drum and start Clean Washer again. If F0E7 comes back with an empty drum, Maytag says to call for service.

What F0E7 means
Maytag’s help pages for front-load and top-load washers describe F0E7 in the same words: clothing was detected while attempting to run the Clean Washer cycle. Neither page lists any other cause or a failed part. The code applies to the Clean Washer cycle only, so a normal wash cycle is not what triggered it.
How it appears: F0 E7 on the display (with a zero). Searches often use F0E7, F0-E7, or FOE7 with a letter O.
Fix it in three steps
- Check that you started Clean Washer on purpose. Maytag’s page opens with the question “Was a clean cycle selected?” If the cycle was meant to be a normal wash, stop it and choose the wash cycle you want.
- Remove the whole load. Stop the cycle with the controls, wait until the door or lid opens, and take out all clothing and towels. Check the drum for small items such as a sock.
- Restart Clean Washer with the drum empty. Maytag’s instruction is to remove the clothing or load and restart the Clean Washer cycle. Use the cleaner your manual names, one product at a time.
If F0E7 comes back with an empty drum
Maytag’s page says: if the problem persists, call for service. Before you do, have these ready:
- The model number (where to find it).
- A photo of the display showing F0 E7.
- The cycle you selected when the code appeared.
