GE WASHER MESSAGES
GE washer error messages: what each one means and what to check first.
GE’s Consumer Help Indicator page for 2017-and-newer electronic-control washers lists five messages. Four have a guide below (checked October 10, 2026), FE is a stop-and-call message, and E1, which GE does not list, has a page that says so.

FE: shut off the water and call service
GE says FE means water has reached a critical level. Turn off the water and the power to the washer, then call service. It has no owner-fix steps, so it has no separate guide.
What about E1?
E1 is not on GE’s list of washer messages on the pages we checked. We have a page for it that says so plainly and shows the messages GE does document, rather than inventing a meaning.
