Maytag F8E1 washer code: not detecting the correct amount of incoming water.

First, let the washer recover

Press the power button. The washer then runs a drain routine that takes about 8 to 10 minutes with the pump running the whole time, and the control does not accept input until it ends. Maytag’s top-load page says to wait 10 minutes before trying any function.

Then check, in this order

1. Make sure the water is on. Both the hot and the cold valves must be fully open, and both inlet hoses must be connected. Maytag says the washer needs both hoses connected to operate correctly.
2. Check the hose connections. The hot (red) hose goes to the hot (red) valve and the cold (blue) hose to the cold (blue) valve. Straighten any kinks that could restrict flow.
3. Check the inlet screens. Turn off the water and unplug the washer, then remove the supply hoses and hold the ends over a bucket. The screens sit at the back of the water inlet valve. Clean any clog with an old toothbrush, mild soap, and water; clean or replace the screens as needed.
4. Look for an anti-flood device. Maytag says the washer should connect directly to the water supply, because anti-flood devices can reduce the water pressure and the amount of water entering the washer.
5. Test each hose. With the hoses disconnected, run water through each one at a sink. If the flow is incomplete or restricted, replace the hose.
6. Check the drain hose. It should extend more than 4.5 inches (113 mm) into the drainpipe. Do not seal it into the pipe with tape: there must be a gap for airflow. The top of the drain should be at least 39 inches (99 cm) above the floor, or water can flow out of the washer by gravity.
