What F5E1 means
Whirlpool’s help page labels this code “F5E1 Error Code - Door Switch” for front-load washers. It gives no longer definition and no cause list. Its only guidance is that the door must be completely closed and that nothing should block the switch.
How it appears: F5 E1 on the display, also written F5E1 or F5-E1.
Fix it in three steps
- Close the door completely. Open it, then close it firmly so it is fully shut.
- Clear the switch area. Look for clothing or shipping materials in the way. Whirlpool names both. Shipping materials matter on a newly delivered washer.
- Reset the control. Whirlpool says the control has to be disconnected from power for 5 minutes. Unplug the washer, wait 5 minutes, and plug it back in.

- The model number (where to find it).
- That the display shows F5 E1 and that you already closed the door fully, cleared the area, and did the 5-minute reset.
